The hotel I work with currently will launch one video in July to introduce the ecological rehabilitation plan of Neritic Squid (The photo shown as follows) in Maoao and how we use local ingredients from the ocean nearby to make cuisine for travelers.

The video is so impressive that I become very curious about the small village, Maoao. Although I commute from Luodong to Fulong every day, I have never been to Maoao. That's why I would like to plan a little trip around Taiwan's northeastern coast to know more about Maoao and villages nearby.

Based on the geographic model shown as below, we can find that Shihcheng and Fulong could be lined up. A train driven directly from the Shihcheng Station to the Fulong Station through a tunnel, so I won't go through Maoao on my way to work.

I started my trip from Luodong, so my first stop is Beiguan(北關) Tidal Park. Guan means a pass guarded by soldiers in Chinese, and the place was a pass in Qing Dynasty. In the park, there are two ancient cannons made in Qing Dynasty facing Guishan Island. Also, there are full of jagged rocks shaped by the tide and unique landform such as Single-Line Sky and Tofu Rock.

Beiguan(北關) is famous for its tide shown as follows. I found I really like the rhythm of the tide and the magnificent scenes that it hit on the cliff.

After the tidal park in Beiguan, we went to a popular restaurant called Black-and-White Mao Seafood(黑白毛海鮮) in Aodi to have our lunch. The cuisine we ordered included Seaweed Crab Soup(紫菜蟹肉羹), Fred Ocean Sunfish(曼波魚) with Celery and Fried Fish. All the seafood is very fresh and delicious.

For your information, Black-Mao(黑毛) and White-Mao(白毛) means two kinds of fish in Taiwanese.

After enjoying our lunch, we went to the stop I had been looking forward for a long time, Maoao(卯澳).

There are lots of lovely and colorful graffiti drawn by National Taiwan Ocean University and local commuty members on the breakwater.

Also, you can find the local spritual symbol "Nine-Fish-Pillar" near the ocean.

The ocean in Maoao is different from the one in Beiguan. It is very peaceful, so the village is very tranquil. Time seems to move on slowly here.

In addition, the local architecture, Stone House, is very unique. Even it supposed to be very firm and strong, it cannot resist the damage from time. It will make you feel human is so small compared to the nature.

If you have already been in Maoao, I would strongly suggested you go around Makang along the road. You may find something surprising, a intertidal zone. Following the pace of local people, you will see how they live with the abundant ocean.

The aunt was find a treasure from the ocean, oyster. Let's see how she did!

Also, you can find other creatures like little crabs, starfish and hermit crabs.

Finally, we moved on to the lighthouse in San Diego.

Here, you can find the eastest point of Taiwan Island, a rock in the ocean.

Facing your left, you will find the Bitoujiao(鼻頭角), and facing your right, you can see the Guishan Island(龜山島).

This is the end of my one-day trip in Taiwan's northeastern coast. I would recommend you following the route to feel the beauty of Taiwan.
